Our August 1914 Commemorative Exhibition "Antarctic Witness" - Come along to the South Ribble Museum & Exhibition Centre for a second chance to see Frank Hurley's remarkable photographic record of Sir Ernest Shackleton, ill fated Imperial Antarctic Expedition on 1914 - 16

Takes place Friday 1st August to Saturday 18th October 2014. - Your final chance to see the exhibition and the film 'South' at 1 pm the exhibition closes.

Saturday 2nd August 2014 - at 10.30 am Official Opening - 11 am short local walk with David Hunt. "Leyland's Belgian Refugees"
Tuesday 5th August 2014 at 2 pm - The First Day of the Great War - Local History walk with David Hunt "An introduction to Leyland in the Great War"
Friday 8th August - Endurance sails for Buenos Aires
Saturday 9th August 2014 at 11 am Illustrated talk with Malcolm Tranter - "August 1914, Winston Churchill and the Imperial Antarctic Expedition of 1914 - 16"

Sunday 31st August 2014 - 2pm Local History Walk 2 miles with David Hunt and local specialists - "McNamara VC:an introduction to Bamber Bridge in the Great War" meet at St Mary's Church, Brownedge Lane, Bamber Bridge.

Museum opens Tuesday & Fridays 10am-4pm, Thursdays 1pm-4pm, Saturdays 10am-1pm.
