We sell local quality cheeses, cooked meats, fresh pies and bread daily.

About the business:
I started on Leyland market 25 years ago selling tights and socks with a friend. Five years later I took over the Cheese Cabin selling just cheese and eggs. Twelve years later I took over the cooked meat stall and extended my range of goods, selling pies, bread, cheese and cooked meats. I moved into the new Leyland market hall in 2000 and never looked back.

I sell produce from local suppliers and it’s what I’m most proud of, the slogan on the staff t-shirts is “Keep it local” and that what I do. The pies are from Reuben Marsden, a Chorley firm recognised for quality produce. The Lancashire cheese I sell is a firm favourite with customers and I regularly offer a “special” for customers so they can try something different.

Most proud of:
I’m proud of all the produce we sell on the stall, which is excellent quality at a reasonable price. We have good loyal customers who give us feedback on our goods.

Interesting:
The Cheese Cabin also make sandwiches and the night before each market day I boil the eggs for the fillings. When a new Saturday girl started, the first job I showed her was boxing the eggs and how to rotate them. A box of hard boiled eggs disappeared only to have been in with all the rest of the eggs. A week later a customer back saying all her eggs were hardboiled! She did laugh about it, thank goodness!

Thornton and Three Wishes is our favourite shop.
