About the business:
We are a traditional shop selling old fashioned sweets in Victorian jars. We aim to provide excellent service and give our customers an insight into how it used to be. We also sell children’s books & traditional wooden toys.

Leyland connection:
I’ve lived in Leyland for 2 years but have always lived close by. I have a lot of family in Leyland and a lot of my customers know my family and late family well. I remember how the place used to be in the 80s & 90s and I used to attend the Leyland festival every year!

We sell:
We stock all the old fashioned treats such as sarsaparilla tablets and drinks. Coltsfoot rock, treacle toffee, Pontefract cakes, chocolate limes, Kopp Kopps and many more. I am open to requests from people, if there is anything they like from days of old and if don’t have it, I will do my best to get it!

Most proud of:
They way in which the design style of our shop looks vintage and eye catching, me, my wife and father designed and built everything in the shop.

The shop, which is called Grandpa Jims, was officially opened by the Mayor of South Ribble, who is also called Jim, he has 14 grandchildren.

Other favourites:
The Gables, it’s a traditonal pub and has great landlords and staff. My favourite shop would be Peppermint Cottage.

Celebrity connection:
Not yet but hopefully one day!

One wish:
To have a franchise of Grandpa Jims all over the Northwest.

Thanks to everybody who comes to my shop, come along and I’m sure you’ll love it!
